Babs - Good People & Great Food!

Looking for a great place for breakfast or brunch?
Well let me introduce you to Babs

Babs is this ecelectic little breakfast spot that my husband & I found one morning as
we were desperately searching for a tasty breakfast but weren't up for an hour wait.
We were looking to Yelp to solve our hunger problems and stumbled upon this little
diamond in the rough. It has all of the things you want in a great restaurant.
Personal Flair + Excellent Food + Entertaining Staff  = Restaurant Heaven

This is what I orderd, the breakfast risotto. I have never had anything like it before
The risotto was so soft & almost creamy, absolutely delicious!
 Welcome to Babs!
Fun, eclectic mix-match of decor in every little nook & cranny.
This was my favorite part, the snow globe wall. There are snow globes
from all over the world here that friends of the owner & guests of the
restaurant bring in from their travels. There are many interesting & often funny
stories behind many of them, so don't hesitate to ask your waiter for some
back stories!
Like I said earlier, they definitely have an entertaining staff.
This was our server Randy & he was absolutely hilarious.
If you are looking for a good time full of laughs, this is your man!
His food recommendations are excellent & spot on too.
Humor, personality & great taste... what more can you ask for!

This weekend if you are looking for a great new breakfast place to try,
give Babs a go. Check out there set menu here & they always
have excellent specials as well.

AND if you still need more incentive, here is a coupon!

Cheap Wednesday

This is an outfit that I wore a few days ago & it features so many great steals! Total cost is $78.86 & that includes all accessories & a pair of Seven Jeans! It features alot of finds that I scored at Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago. That is my new favorite one-stop shop.

Green Fringe Skirt - Nordstrom Rack - $18.97
Jeans - Seven's - $31.97
Necklace - Nordstrom - $1.97
Shoes - Off Broadway - $15.99
Earrings - Nordstrom - $1.99
Clutch - Nordstrom Rack - $7.97
Outfit Total: $78.86

This post is called "Cheap Wednesday" not because this is what I am actually wearing today but because I am posting it today. Right now it is rainy & dreary here in Atlanta so I am wearing my comfy outfit that consist of a long maxi with a sweater thrown over it, cowboy boots & a pony tail. Not my most stylish moment but it suits my lethargic rain mood that I am in.

It Was A Keds Kind Of Day

T-shirt - Nordstrom Rack
Skirt - Free People
Shoes - Keds
Necklace - Forever 21
Clutch - DSW
Sunnies - DKNY
Didn't think I owned a pair of Keds did you?? Don't worry, I am still shocked some days that I do as well. That is not a hit against Keds, I love them, they are usually just not my personal style. I have had them for years & I probably wear them maybe 3 times year & this is time #1 for 2012. This is my new favorite skirt!! I got it on the discount rack at Free People & the combo of the intricate pattern & the pleats... I was sold!
This was just an easy Saturday outfit. Comfy + Cute = Saturday Happiness

Color Blocking - I Finally Gave it a Go!

Tank - Soprano
Jeans - Free People
Wedges - Nordstrom Rack
Necklace - Nordstrom
Bag - Juicy Couture
Zebra Ring - Forever 21 (also seen here)

In February I wrote a post (check it out here) about how I have a love-hate relationship with color blocking but I vowed to give it a go... so here I am, keeping my word. This outfit is not what I would naturally gravitate towards. As much as I love fashion & color, I wear alot of black. So this much color is out of the box for me but I have to admit, I like it!! I am definitely going to have to give bright color blocking a few more go's this summer.

Starting Back

This time a year ago I was running my first marathon (my only marathon actually).
My parents & I were crazy enough to think that training for 18 weeks then flying out to Cincinnati to run 26.2 miles was a great idea. The day of the marathon I ran through every emotion possible, from excitement & joy to fear, pain & full on terror. It was such an experience & was one of the best growing moments of my life.

To make a long story short, the marathon was one of the hardest mental challenges of my life & I walked away feeling pretty defeated. I look back at it know nervous to do another one BUT full of drive to do another one because I know I have already done it. If I can do it once, I can do it again & I can do it better. The thing that the marathon taught me was that I can truly do anything I put my effort into. It may have not been the best race of my life but it was my race & I did it despite any doubts.
After the marathon I slacked off considerably on my running, it was a combination of the squelching Georgia heat & just crazy life shifts. I love running though, being outside by myself & challenging myself, I love that... I need that. I am a competitive person & I find that running is great for me because it is an individual sport & the competition is against yourself, not someone else. I love that!~ It makes me push & drive harder & go farther. I have missed it, I haven't ran in I don't know how long, but today that is all changing.
Today I am slipping on my gear & hitting the pavement. I am re-gaining my running self! I my not go far or hard but at least I am going. I am starting back & I am by no means committing to a crazy training schedule for a huge race looming in the future, but I am committing to start. Who knows where this will lead, maybe to some more 10k's or half-marathons. Who knows... I may choose to conquer my fear & take on the beast again. We will see, we will see.

*yes, that is a wrist strap of pepper spray - thanks dad for the gift :)*
